The Toronto Raptors have announced that they will honor Kyle Lowry by retiring his No. 7 jersey after their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10. Lowry will join Vince Carter as the second player in the team’s history to receive this recognition at Scotiabank Arena.
After a 20-year NBA career, Lowry, who retired at the age of 40 in July, expressed his excitement about the upcoming tribute. He emphasized his deep connection to Toronto, stating that it has always felt like home to him and that retiring as a Raptor was a long-held aspiration.
Reflecting on his time with the Raptors, Lowry highlighted the special bond he shared with his teammates, the organization, the city, and the fans, emphasizing their journey to becoming NBA champions in 2019. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate this milestone with his loved ones and the entire Raptors community.
During his nine seasons with the team, Lowry made significant contributions, leading in assists, steals, and three-pointers. As a six-time NBA All-Star, he leaves a lasting legacy with the franchise.
