Fans attending Harry Styles’ Together, Together tour at Madison Square Garden in New York City have been caught up in a new trend where they chant the lyrics to 5 Seconds of Summer’s song “Telephone Busy” during the instrumental break of Styles’ track “Ready, Steady, Go.” This phenomenon began with a TikTok fan remix by user @millsberry75, which gained traction and was later incorporated into a DJ set by 5 Seconds of Summer at Lollapalooza. The trend has now made its way to Styles’ live performances, with fans enthusiastically joining in on the chant, as seen in numerous social media videos.

The history between One Direction, the band that propelled Styles to fame, and 5 Seconds of Summer, commonly known as 5SOS, contributes to the excitement surrounding this trend. 5SOS initially gained exposure when One Direction member Louis Tomlinson shared one of their songs online, leading to collaborations and joint tours between the two bands. Over a decade later, the connection between fans of both groups remains strong.

5 Seconds of Summer has acknowledged the enthusiasm surrounding the mashup, with drummer Ashton Irwin expressing appreciation for fans’ participation. While Styles has yet to directly address the trend, the growing volume of the chants suggests that he may soon take notice. With numerous shows remaining on the tour schedule, including stops at Rogers Stadium, fans are eagerly anticipating the continuation of this unique fan-driven trend.
