The Toronto Blue Jays are gearing up for a crucial stretch of their season, starting with a matchup against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night at Rogers Centre. With just 30 games remaining in their regular season, the Blue Jays are currently chasing the Cleveland Guardians for the final American League wild-card spot, sitting two games behind.

As the Blue Jays kick off a six-game homestand before embarking on a challenging nine-game road trip, the race for the playoffs is heating up. The Guardians, who have won five consecutive games, are closely pursued by the Houston Astros, while the Texas Rangers have taken the lead in the AL West. The Minnesota Twins are also in the mix, tied with the Blue Jays and trailing the Guardians by two games.

In addition to the Blue Jays, the Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, and Detroit Tigers are still in contention for a wild-card spot. The Blue Jays will send veteran right-hander Max Scherzer to the mound to face the Royals, who have been on an eight-game winning streak but remain six games behind Toronto in the wild-card race.

Following the series against the Royals, the Blue Jays will continue their push for the playoffs with upcoming games against the Mariners. Currently, the Mariners are just a game behind the Blue Jays in the standings. The Blue Jays have been performing well this month, winning 13 out of 22 games, but they recently faced a setback by losing a series to the Yankees.

Looking ahead, the Blue Jays have a favorable schedule with no games remaining against teams above .500. Their remaining opponents have a combined winning percentage of .464, with 18 games against direct wild-card competitors. Moreover, the Blue Jays will play 15 of their final 30 games at Rogers Centre, providing them with a home-field advantage in the crucial stretch of the season.
