Iran’s Top Adviser Assesses American Military Strength amid Iran-U.S. Conflict

Published on

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) top adviser reveals insights on the perceived strength of the American military amid ongoing talks to end the Iran-U.S. conflict. Brig.-Gen. Mohammad Reza Naqdi stated in an interview with PBS News Hour that Iran is yet to achieve its ultimate goal in the war but remains victorious so far. The interim deal between the U.S. and Iran to cease hostilities faces an approaching deadline after previous attempts at a ceasefire failed, leading to exchanges of strikes between the two nations.

Naqdi emphasized the learning experience gained from the conflict, noting that Iran has adapted and recognized what they perceive as weaknesses in the U.S. military. President Donald Trump reaffirmed U.S. control over the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing the strength of the naval blockade in a recent statement.

Meanwhile, Pakistan continues its efforts to mediate peace talks between Iran and the U.S., with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi engaging in discussions with Iranian officials. Disputes over the vital Strait of Hormuz route persist, with accusations from both sides regarding the fulfillment of agreements made in the ceasefire deal.

The conflict has resulted in significant casualties, primarily in Iran and Lebanon, with Iran targeting U.S. assets across various territories. The ceasefire agreement, initially intended to lead to a final deal on Iran’s nuclear program and U.S. sanctions relief, faces escalating tensions as both nations escalate their rhetoric and demands.
