“Ryan Garcia Casts Doubt on Joshua-Paul Heavyweight Bout”

Published on

Ryan Garcia casts doubt on the likelihood of Jake Paul’s heavyweight bout against Anthony Joshua materializing. The anticipated match between the YouTuber-turned-boxer and the former two-time heavyweight champion is slated for December 19 in Miami, comprising eight three-minute rounds with both fighters using 10oz gloves. Paul, who last competed in June with a decision victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, had to forego a scheduled bout against Gervonta Davis after Davis faced legal accusations. On the other hand, Joshua has been inactive since his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024 but agreed to face Paul after planning a comeback. The two fighters recently met at a press conference in Miami, where observers noted significant size differences, prompting Garcia to express skepticism about the fight’s occurrence.

Despite Garcia’s doubts, the clash between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul is set to happen on December 19 in Miami, streaming live on Netflix, accessible through Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle. Paul, displeased with Garcia’s comments, retaliated by pointing out Garcia’s recent fights. Previously, Paul’s fight with Davis was canceled, leading him to challenge various boxing stars, including Garcia. However, DAZN, the streaming platform, did not allow Garcia to switch platforms. An official from MVP explained DAZN’s decision, implying strategic considerations regarding the potential outcomes of fights involving Garcia and Paul.

The much-anticipated match between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul is scheduled for December 19 in Miami, just ahead of Christmas. The fight is expected to occur around 11pm local time, likely streaming live on Netflix. Fight times may adjust based on the undercard’s duration. The event is tailored to appeal to the American audience and is subject to schedule modifications.
