Apple has rolled out a crucial update for iPhone users to address a wireless charging issue. Some users have experienced difficulties with wireless charging, forcing them to resort to MagSafe charging. Although Apple claims only a small number of users are affected, it is recommended for all iPhone users to ensure their devices are up to date.
The affected models include the iPhone 17 series, including the Pro and Pro Max versions, as well as the iPhone Air. According to Apple, the update resolves a problem that could hinder wired charging on these models when the battery is nearly depleted.
To update the device, users can navigate to Settings, General, and Software Update. The update, labeled iOS 26.5.1, can be installed immediately by selecting “Update Now” or scheduled for installation during nighttime. It is important to have a stable Wi-Fi connection or unlimited mobile data as the update file is a substantial 13.6GB in size.
Apple enthusiasts can look forward to the upcoming WWDC Developers Conference starting on June 8, where Apple is expected to unveil the new iOS 27 upgrade. This upgrade is anticipated to introduce a host of new features to iPhones, potentially enhancing their artificial intelligence capabilities.
Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, expressed excitement for the event, emphasizing the celebration of technology, innovation, and collaboration among the global developer community. The event will be covered live by Mirror Online, starting at 6pm BST.
