Vodafone Introduces Scam Call Protection Service to Combat Phone Scams
Dealing with unwanted phone calls has become a common issue for smartphone users, with reports indicating that the average UK consumer faces around eight scam calls each month. These calls often aim to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.
In response to this growing problem, Vodafone has unveiled a new service called Scam Call Protection, designed to help customers ward off suspicious phone calls. Using artificial intelligence (AI), this feature can identify and flag potentially fraudulent, spam, scam, and nuisance calls.
Operating discreetly in the background, the system analyzes incoming calls to detect any signs of potential scams. If any suspicious activity is detected, customers will receive a straightforward on-screen alert indicating a possible scam call.
Rob Winterschladen, Vodafone’s Consumer Director, emphasized the importance of staying vigilant against scam calls, stating, “Scam calls are becoming increasingly harder to spot, and it’s easy to feel caught off guard. Scam Call Protection on Vodafone Secure Net Mobile provides customers with an additional layer of security by continuously monitoring calls and flagging known or suspected scam calls.”
This new feature is integrated into Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already offers advanced parental controls, 24/7 ID monitoring to prevent identity theft, and real-time virus and malware protection. Customers can try out the Scam Call Protection service free of charge for three months, after which it is priced at £2 per month.
