In the latest announcement, the Premium Bond results for January 2026 were disclosed, revealing two fortunate individuals who have each become £1 million richer at the start of the New Year.
One of the winners resides in Suffolk and holds the maximum investment of £50,000 in Premium Bonds, with the winning bond number 570QM451332 acquired in February 2024. The other winner, hailing from Berkshire, also possesses £50,000 in Premium Bonds, and their winning bond number 377PG290829 was purchased in December 2019.
Premium Bonds, offered by National Savings & Investment (NS&I), differ from traditional savings products by providing participants with the opportunity to enter a monthly prize draw instead of earning a fixed interest rate on their capital.
The monthly prizes for Premium Bonds range from £25 to £1 million, although winning a prize every month is not guaranteed, with a higher frequency of smaller prizes compared to larger sums. The maximum amount that can be invested in Premium Bonds is £50,000, with each pound invested corresponding to a unique bond number.
The odds of winning a prize each month stand at 22,000 to 1 for every £1 bond held. Winners are typically notified via email or text message by NS&I, giving them the choice to receive their winnings directly into their bank account or reinvest them in Premium Bonds. Tools like the NS&I online prize checker and the Premium Bonds prize checker app can be used to verify if one has won.
The current prize fund rate for Premium Bonds, equivalent to an interest rate, is set at 3.60%, a rate that has remained constant since the August 2025 draw. While the prize fund rate has slightly declined recently, resulting in fewer larger prizes being distributed and an increase in smaller prizes, two £1 million prizes are still awarded each month. Presently, over 24 million individuals hold Premium Bonds.
Recent data disclosed the most fortunate regions for winning Premium Bond prizes, with Hampshire and the Isle of Wight seeing 42 individuals winning the second largest prize of £100,000 in 2025. Essex, Outer London, Norwich, and Cumbria were also highlighted for their luck in securing substantial prizes.
