“Steiner Suggests Hamilton’s Short Tenure at Ferrari, Tips Bearman as Successor”

Guenther Steiner, the former head of Haas, suggests that Lewis Hamilton’s tenure at Ferrari might be shorter than expected due to his underwhelming debut season. Steiner, aged 60, has identified young talent Oliver Bearman as a potential successor to Hamilton before the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Hamilton’s performance at Ferrari has sparked discussions about his future, particularly as he has struggled to find his form. Steiner speculates that if Hamilton’s lackluster results persist into the next season, his time with the Italian team could come to an early end.

Bearman has ties to Ferrari, having filled in for Carlos Sainz at the previous season’s Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. Joining Ferrari’s Driving Academy in 2022, Bearman has impressed with his performances at Haas this year.

Often considered a strong candidate to replace Hamilton, Bearman’s potential switch to Ferrari aligns with Steiner’s viewpoint. In an interview on ‘The Red Flags podcast,’ Steiner endorsed Bearman as a replacement for Hamilton if the latter fails to deliver next season.

Steiner expressed confidence in Bearman’s abilities, highlighting his recent improvement and solid performances. He believes that if Ferrari does not secure Bearman a seat in 2027, he will likely join a top-tier team due to his consistent and impressive driving skills.

Bearman has shown promising results, securing points in the past four races and closing in on Isack Hadjar and Nico Hulkenberg in the Drivers’ Championship Standings. However, Ferrari has endured a disappointing season with no wins in 2025, while Hamilton is still chasing his first podium after 21 races. In contrast, Hamilton’s teammate Charles Leclerc has achieved seven podium finishes, surpassed only by Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, and Max Verstappen.

The anticipation of Bearman’s potential promotion to Ferrari is shared by Sky Sports F1 pitlane reporter Ted Kravitz, who believes it is inevitable. Kravitz, speaking on ‘The F1 Show,’ confidently stated that Bearman will eventually take over Hamilton’s role at Ferrari.

Despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, Hamilton has hinted at staying with Ferrari for the long term, referencing his existing contract. He emphasized that discussions about his contract typically occur closer to its renewal period.

Sky has enhanced its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, now including HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+, and Hayu, alongside 135 channels and comprehensive Formula 1 coverage. Sky offers live broadcasts of every practice, qualifying session, and race throughout the season, along with exclusive coverage of various sports leagues and events.
