A woman and her young child had to quickly leave their residence with their pets after their car was intentionally set on fire, causing the flames to spread to their house, as per authorities.
The incident took place in Cleggswood Avenue, Littleborough, Greater Manchester, around 1:15 am on September 6, when the mother and child were asleep. They were alerted to the danger by the car’s alarm system, stated Greater Manchester Police.
A 42-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of stalking and plotting to commit arson but has been released on bail as investigations continue. Police have shared an image of a car that detectives are keen to identify, seeking to speak with the owner or occupants.
The vehicle reportedly arrived from Hollingworth Road and departed in the same direction, possibly heading towards Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

DC Jeffery emphasized the severity of the incident, highlighting the potential tragic outcome if not for the car’s alarm system that allowed the family and pets to escape unharmed. He stressed that while there is no immediate threat to the public, the police are committed to locating those accountable.
He urged the public to provide any information or footage related to the event on September 6, emphasizing the importance of even the smallest detail in aiding the investigation.
