McLaren has publicly apologized to their drivers, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, following their disqualification from the Las Vegas Grand Prix. In a statement issued by McLaren’s team principal, Andrea Stella, it was revealed that the team had breached Article 3.5.9 of the Technical Regulations due to a slight deviation in the skid thickness on both cars. This breach was attributed to unforeseen high levels of porpoising during the race, causing increased contact with the ground, possibly aggravated by accidental damage sustained by the cars.

McLaren clarified that the breach was unintentional, with no deliberate intent to violate regulations. They expressed regret to Norris and Piastri for the lost points in the championship race, emphasizing their commitment to the remaining races of the season despite the setback.

The disqualification has reignited the competition in the Drivers’ World Championship, with Norris maintaining his lead with 390 points. However, Max Verstappen’s victory in the Las Vegas Grand Prix has brought him level with Piastri, creating a tense scenario for the remaining races.
