A man alleges that he was left in Turkey following an allergic reaction during his flight from the UK. Dan Bowes, aged 32, boarded a Jet2 flight from Newcastle to Dalaman Airport on July 9, accompanied by his friend Clair. Shortly into the journey, he experienced throat swelling, which was unusual for him as he had no history of allergies except for mild hayfever earlier that year. Initially attributing it to a summer ailment, he took an anti-histamine but soon realized he needed urgent help.

Dan praised the flight crew for their prompt assistance, providing him with oxygen and medical aid upon landing. However, his ordeal began when he was instructed to obtain a fit-to-fly certificate and a doctor’s medical form for his return journey. This unexpected demand incurred significant costs, including a doctor’s visit fee and certificate expenses, leading to a disagreement over his health status with the doctor.

Despite feeling well and receiving clearance to travel back, a last-minute issue arose during check-out on July 17, preventing him from boarding the flight due to incomplete paperwork. After a series of challenges, including a rejected medical form, delays, and financial difficulties, Dan eventually managed to secure a flight home with the help of a compassionate individual.

Dan expressed deep distress over the entire experience, criticizing the post-flight handling by Jet2 and emphasizing the need for an explanation and apology. Jet2 defended its actions, citing adherence to standard procedures and prioritizing customer safety. They explained that Dan’s inability to provide the required medical form led to his travel disruption but confirmed his successful journey home after the form was submitted.
