Denise Welch’s spouse, Lincoln Townley, has paid tribute to Jamal Edwards in a heartfelt manner after his untimely passing in February 2022.

Lincoln, aged 53, known for his self-taught painting skills and stunning celebrity portraits, has impressed fans with his recent artwork, transforming Ed Sheeran’s portrait into a masterpiece. The proceeds from this creation were donated to The Jamal Edwards Self-Belief Trust in memory of the late 31-year-old.

Collaborating with Ed Sheeran, the renowned artist, and the chart-topping singer, managed to raise an impressive £20,000 for Jamal, who was the son of Brenda Edwards, a star on Loose Women.

Denise, Brenda’s colleague on Loose Women and a close friend, took to her Instagram account to express her pride in showcasing the tribute artwork crafted by her husband for Jamal.

In an interview with The Mirror, Denise praised the charity initiative, highlighting the £20,000 raised and emphasizing Ed Sheeran’s deep bond with Jamal. She mentioned that Ed, being Jamal’s best friend, incorporated subtle nods to Jamal’s preferences, such as his love for Chelsea blue, in the portrait.

Tragically, Jamal passed away from a cardiac arrest, as confirmed by an inquest in 2022. The son of Loose Women star Brenda collapsed at his residence in west London at the age of 31.

A prominent figure in the music industry, Jamal was honored with an MBE in 2014 for his contributions to music and served as an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust. Following his demise, his mother reflected on his altruistic nature, stating Jamal’s dedication to helping others and spreading joy.

Ed Sheeran, a close friend of Jamal, shared his emotional journey of grief in his series, “Ed Sheeran: The Sum Of It All.” He revealed the profound impact of Jamal’s death on him and the challenges he faced in coming to terms with the loss, especially amidst his wife’s cancer diagnosis.

The singer’s candid recount included moments of attending memorials for Jamal and grappling with the reality of his absence. Ed’s poignant reflections captured the rawness of loss and the struggle to navigate through grief.

Brenda, in a previous statement on Loose Women, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support received from Ed and others during the difficult period after Jamal’s passing.
