Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride put on a memorable performance for the local fans on Sunday at the Target Center. She set a new WNBA single-game record by sinking 10 3-pointers in a 103-90 victory against the Dallas Wings. McBride, a five-time all-star and four-time EuroLeague champion, shot 10 of 14 from beyond the arc, scoring a career-high 43 points. The home crowd cheered her on as she made history, culminating in a standing ovation when she left the game with 1:21 remaining.

Expressing her gratitude to the fans and the organization, McBride emphasized her love for the city of Minneapolis and her commitment to giving her best on the court. She credited the support and encouragement she receives for her exceptional performance, stating, “I feel so loved and appreciated for who I am, and I just love the game. I want to win.” The previous record of nine 3-pointers in a game had been achieved eight times before, with Toronto’s Marina Mabrey accomplishing it twice this season.

McBride’s stellar display also contributed to the Lynx breaking the franchise’s single-game 3-point record, finishing 18 of 39 from long range. With this win, the Lynx (27-7) secured a playoff spot, becoming the first team to do so this season. Minnesota’s offensive prowess has been remarkable, surpassing 100 points in four of their last six games, including a strong performance against the defending champions, Las Vegas Aces.

Reflecting on her remarkable achievement, McBride expressed her gratitude and satisfaction with her decision to return to Minnesota in the offseason, highlighting the support and success she has found with the team. This milestone game showcased McBride’s talent and dedication, solidifying her place as a standout player in the league.
