“Family Pays Tribute to Man Lost in Tragic House Fire”

A man tragically lost his life in a house fire, prompting his family to share a heartfelt tribute in his honor.

Following a fire outbreak at a residence in Highters Heath just before 1.10 am on Friday, Daniel Gardner, aged 37, sustained severe injuries and was swiftly taken to the hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

Tyler Phythian, 18, residing on Cherrywood Road in Birmingham, appeared in Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday, facing charges of murder. He was detained in custody pending a plea hearing scheduled for November 25. Similarly, Stephen Dale, aged 47 and also residing on Cherrywood Road in Birmingham, was charged with Mr. Gardner’s murder on Sunday. He too was remanded in custody awaiting a plea hearing at the same court on November 25.

In a poignant tribute, Mr. Gardner’s family honored him as a devoted father in a statement conveyed through the police.

The statement expressed: “Daniel, a devoted son, father, brother, and nephew… words cannot convey the immense pain and sorrow we are experiencing. You selflessly gave without expecting anything in return. It brings solace knowing that you are now reunited with our grandparents who will watch over you once more.

“Though my heart remains shattered, I aspire to find the resilience to carry on in your absence. My love is eternal for you, Dan. I miss you every moment of every day. With love, from Mum, Nick, Ryan, Liv, Elliot, Charlie, Lynn, and Phil.”

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police conveyed: “Our sympathies are with Daniel’s family during this tragic period, and we stand ready to support them as our investigation progresses. We urge anyone with information or footage that could assist our inquiries to contact us at 101, quoting log 174 of September 19. Alternatively, individuals can reach out to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
