An expert from British Gas has shared a tip on how to heat your home without turning on the central heating.
Jessica Rawstron, a smart energy engineer, recommends leaving the oven door open after cooking to utilize the residual heat escaping from the appliance.
According to Jessica, instead of closing the oven door immediately after cooking, you can leave it open to slowly transfer the heat into your kitchen, keeping your house warm while you enjoy your meal. She also advises caution to prevent children and pets from approaching the open door.
British Gas has also provided tips for winter preparation, such as sealing gaps around windows and doors to prevent draughts.

For pre-payment meter users, the annual cap is now £1,711, and for those paying upon receipt of bill, it is £1,894, with the caps being revised every three months, with the next update scheduled for April 2026.
