A former student of an elite school in the UK, George Wilson, 23, was apprehended in Bangkok with 9.1kg of crystal meth in his possession. The British man, hailing from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, allegedly received the drug from another Brit at a hotel in the city’s red-light district. Following a tip-off about a drug handover, Thai authorities arrested Wilson in his hotel room.
Wilson, who attended the prestigious Hurst Lodge School in Surrey, has connections to music legends Iron Maiden, as per a family friend. Despite his affluent background and a residence in a desirable area, his involvement in drugs came as a shock to acquaintances. Reports indicate that Wilson’s family was informed of his arrest in Thailand while on a global cruise.
During the arrest, Wilson claimed ignorance about the contents of his suitcase, which was later found to contain methamphetamine concealed in tea packaging. Police conducted chemical tests to verify the substance as methamphetamine, leading to Wilson’s detention pending a court appearance.
Thai police revealed that Wilson allegedly received the drugs from a British accomplice named “Snoopy” for a monetary reward. The suspects were under surveillance for days prior to the arrest, with CCTV footage confirming the delivery of the illicit packages. Investigation suggests the crystal meth originated from drug labs in Myanmar and transited through Thailand, a known hub for illegal activities.
Charged with distributing methamphetamine with intent to sell, Wilson is believed to be part of a cross-border drug smuggling network. Authorities emphasized the seriousness of the offense due to the large quantity of drugs seized. The Royal Thai Police cooperated in the arrest, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
