An annoyed Luke Littler has criticized the darts coach who questioned his participation in the World Youth Championship, calling him an ‘absolute helmet’. Littler, aged 18, competed in the tournament in Wigan recently but was defeated in the semi-finals by Beau Greaves, who ultimately won the championship.
‘The Nuke’ expressed his enjoyment of the experience and commended Greaves, a three-time women’s world champion at just 21 years old. However, Cornwall was unimpressed with Littler’s decision.
In a scathing critique on the Mission Darts Podcast, Cornwall condemned Littler’s actions, suggesting that he was taking opportunities away from others by competing in the youth category as a world champion.
Following Cornwall’s critical comments, Littler responded on Instagram, labeling Cornwall as an ‘absolute helmet’ and dismissing his remarks about both Littler and another darts player, Stephen Bunting.
Defending his choice to participate in the World Youth Championship, Littler emphasized that the venue is the same as where professionals play and highlighted that he was there to gain experience in playing under specific conditions.
In a separate incident, Cornwall also targeted Bunting, questioning his strategic choices during matches. Cornwall expressed surprise that Bunting had not achieved more success in major tournaments and criticized his stance at the oche.
