The realm of hockey romance is abuzz once more as Crave’s “Heated Rivalry” welcomes five new additions to its cast. Emily Hampshire, a Canadian actress known for her roles in “Schitt’s Creek” and “12 Monkeys,” will portray Vanessa, a character working at a sex shop. Sabrina Jalees, a Canadian comedian and actress, will play sports agent Farah Jalali, while Priyanka, winner of the first season of “Canada’s Drag Race,” takes on the role of Tarek, an office assistant.

Joining them are Robert Naylor, a Canadian actor and musician known for voicing D.W. Read in “Arthur,” as goaltender Wyatt Hayes, and Edvin Ryding, a Swedish actor who starred in Netflix’s “Young Royals,” as rookie hockey player Luca Haas.

The casting announcement for the new season was shared on Instagram by Crave. Season two of “Heated Rivalry” will follow the evolving relationship between hockey rivals-turned-lovers Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changer series, specifically the sixth novel, “The Long Game.”

Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie will reprise their lead roles in the TV adaptation. The first season of the show adapted the initial two books in Reid’s series, “Game Changer” and “Heated Rivalry,” with expectations high for the potential adaptation of the third novel, “Tough Guy.”

In the upcoming season, the show will also incorporate characters from the fifth novel, “Role Model,” including Troy Barrett, a hockey player traded to Ilya’s new team, and Harris Dover, a social media manager. Justice Smith has been cast as Harris, and Charlie Gillespie from “Julie and the Phantoms” will play Troy. The second season of “Heated Rivalry” is set to premiere in spring 2027.
