Blackpool Tower Circus had to be cleared today following a disturbing motorcycle mishap that occurred in front of the audience. The incident took place during the ‘Globe of Death act’, where a motorcyclist suffered injuries while performing high-speed maneuvers inside a metal sphere. Spectators described how the rider fell off the bike midway through the act, resulting in the bike hitting him.

Other performers quickly came to his aid, and attendees were asked to vacate the premises. Emergency services, including ambulances and the fire department, arrived shortly afterward, and the injured motorcyclist was promptly taken to the hospital.

An eyewitness recounted the event, stating that the rider lost control during the second half of the performance, leading to the bike striking him. Around 200-250 audience members were instructed to leave the circus following the incident.

Another observer expressed shock over the occurrence, mentioning the swift response of emergency services with multiple ambulances and fire trucks present at the scene on the Promenade.

A statement from Everything Blackpool conveyed sadness over the injury sustained by one of the motorcyclists during the show, emphasizing the swift actions of emergency services and expressing solidarity with the performer and circus team. The statement highlighted the risks performers undertake to entertain audiences.

A spokesperson for Blackpool Tower Circus reassured the public of stringent safety measures in place and clarified that the rider was executing a planned maneuver under controlled conditions.

Meanwhile, Blackpool Tourism Limited acknowledged the incident, stating that it led to an early termination of the show and that they are monitoring the situation for further updates.

The North West Air Ambulance Charity confirmed its involvement in responding to the incident, providing critical care assistance and transporting the patient to the hospital.

In a similar incident last year, a circus performer fell from the ‘Wheel of Death’ during a Blackpool Tower Circus show, sustaining a minor wrist injury. The tent was evacuated, and affected guests were offered complimentary tickets for a future performance.
