An online personality in the aviation community tragically lost his life in front of over 1,000 viewers when his ultralight aircraft crashed and caught fire during a live broadcast. Tang Feiji was conducting a livestream when his twin-rotor aircraft suddenly veered sharply, resulting in a fatal crash in Jiange County, central China. Spectators watching the stream pleaded desperately for emergency assistance, but unfortunately, Tang, aged 55, succumbed to the impact and was declared deceased at the site. Known for his aerial content, Tang had amassed a following of approximately 100,000 on the Chinese social media platform Douyin.
Prior to the crash, Tang had briefly landed to adjust his camera before taking off again. Shockingly, he was not equipped with a helmet or parachute for safety while piloting the aircraft. Following his passing, his livestream account has been set to private, limiting access to his previous content for only existing followers. Authorities in China have initiated investigations into the circumstances surrounding Tang’s demise.
Reports suggest that this was not Tang’s first encounter with danger, having survived two prior crashes attributed to technical malfunctions like a faulty fuel gauge. He had purchased the aircraft for an estimated £36,500 (CNY 350,000) the previous year, believing that a pilot’s license was unnecessary for operating such ultralight aircraft. However, aviation experts emphasize the necessity of a license for piloting any low-altitude aircraft.
