“Partial Lunar Eclipse Wows Skywatchers Across the Globe”

Sky enthusiasts were treated to a striking partial lunar eclipse visible across the Americas, Europe, and Africa on Thursday evening extending into Friday. This lunar eclipse, dubbed the “almost blood moon,” reached its peak just after midnight ET, with Earth’s shadow covering 96 percent of the moon’s visible surface, resulting in a near-total lunar eclipse. Those who missed this celestial spectacle will have to wait until New Year’s Eve in 2028 for the next lunar eclipse.

In Canada, residents in Vancouver witnessed the full moon during the lunar eclipse phase in the night sky. Similarly, a captivating partial lunar eclipse was observed above Osborne Village in Winnipeg, and at the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant in Toronto.

In other parts of the Americas, individuals at the George Observatory in Brazos Bend State Park, Texas, were seen capturing the lunar eclipse on their cellphones. The Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, the Mexican flag in Ciudad Juarez, and coconut palm trees in Salvador, Bahia state, Brazil, provided stunning backdrops for the partial lunar eclipse.

Over in Europe, the moon made a striking appearance during the partial lunar eclipse over Warsaw, as viewers gathered at Parliament Hill, Hampstead Heath, in London to witness the phenomenon. Additionally, a plane was spotted approaching for landing in Lisbon during the eclipse, while Goutz, France, offered a picturesque view of the reddish partial lunar eclipse in the night sky.
