She outpaced Australia’s Jenna Forrester to win in a time of 4 minutes, 28.01 seconds. This victory marked McIntosh’s remarkable performance as she aimed to surpass her previous world record set last year.
Following her win, McIntosh expressed her feelings, stating that she felt she could have done even better but was content with her performance for Canada. The Canadian national anthem played after her victory, igniting excitement among the spectators, particularly a group of enthusiastic youngsters in the stands.
Later in the competition, McIntosh contributed to Canada’s success by helping secure a bronze medal in the women’s 4×200 freestyle relay. Mary-Sophie Harvey, Emma O’Croinin, and Brooklyn Douthwright completed the team that finished behind Australia and the United States. McIntosh highlighted the significance of teamwork and expressed her determination to continue striving for success leading up to the 2028 Olympics.
