Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges in connection with an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player seriously injured earlier this month, according to police. Teddy Allen was hospitalized following an assault at the nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as reported by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The three individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the establishment, were arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They have since been released on undertakings.
Although the police did not disclose the specific nightclub, they mentioned it was located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues. Allen has undergone medical examinations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home, as stated in a team-released written statement on Thursday.
Expressing his sentiments on the assault, Allen remarked, “The assault should never have occurred nor should it be inflicted on anyone for any reason.” He added, “The thing about my life is that when I’ve been knocked down, I get back up, which is exactly what I’m going to do now.”
