The union representing WestJet’s cabin crew has disclosed the particulars of the tentative agreement reached with the Calgary-based airline following a brief strike. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has outlined the deal, which includes a salary increase of over 18% spread across three years and the introduction of a new “duty period premium” to compensate for ground duties. Additionally, the agreement entails enhanced leave allowances, increased food and uniform benefits, and various other provisions.

During the long holiday weekend, WestJet flights throughout much of Canada were suspended as 4,400 flight attendants prepared to strike. However, a tentative agreement was reached between the airline and the union early on Monday, leading to a gradual return to normal operations for WestJet. The cabin crew members are scheduled to vote on the agreement in the upcoming weeks.
