A mother of one described as “beautiful” tragically lost her life in a fatal collision involving a heavy goods vehicle while she was driving home from work, as revealed in an inquest.
Chloe Lightfoot, aged 33, was on her way back along the A66 in Barnard Castle, County Durham, when her Citroen Berlingo van collided with a HGV shortly after 8 am on August 26.
Despite a rapid emergency response that included paramedics, air ambulance, and fire and rescue teams at the scene, Chloe could not be saved and was declared deceased.
Following her untimely passing, Chloe’s devastated family issued a heartfelt statement expressing their deep sorrow. They described her as a beloved young woman who held roles as a mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, girlfriend, and friend to many. The family emphasized the profound loss they feel and the cherished memories they hold of Chloe.
An official inquest into her death commenced at Crook Coroner’s Court overseen by Senior Coroner Jeremy Chipperfield.
Details emerged in court indicating that Chloe resided in Spennymoor and worked as a sales administrator. The post-mortem examination conducted at Newcastle Freeman Hospital determined the cause of death to be head and chest injuries.
Durham Constabulary officers specializing in such cases are currently providing support to Chloe’s grieving family, as reported by Chronicle Live.
In a separate incident, tributes poured in for another woman who tragically lost her life in a car accident. Jodie Amanda James, aged 33, was critically injured in a collision while cycling along the A40 road near Llanddewi Velfrey, Pembrokeshire, on the morning of Friday, August 22. Despite being hospitalized, Jodie passed away on Sunday, August 24.
In a poignant statement shared through the police, Jodie’s family commemorated her as a devoted mother to Kaleb, daughter to Amanda and Stephen, sister to Sammy and Kristian, sister to her brother Adam, and aunt to Karter, Lilith, and Atlas. The family described Jodie as an inspirational and exceptional individual.
