Tiger Woods has acknowledged that he will be taking a break from golf following a recent back surgery in October. The American golfer underwent a procedure to replace a disc in his spine, marking his seventh back surgery and third major operation in the past two years, following previous surgeries on his Achilles and ankle.
Despite his past successes, including winning the Masters in 2019 after an 11-year gap, Woods has been struggling with injuries. While he was able to host his annual Hero World Challenge golf tournament in the Bahamas, he recognizes the long road to recovery ahead of him before returning to competitive play.
Reflecting on his rehabilitation progress, Woods humorously mentioned playing in 25 events across tours, but later emphasized the importance of focusing on his return to the game first. He discussed his gradual recovery process, recently receiving clearance to resume chipping and putting after the surgery.
A significant motivation for Woods is the opportunity to break the PGA record for most tournament wins, currently tied with golf legend Sam Snead at 82 victories. Notah Begay III, a close friend of Woods, highlighted that one of the key challenges for Woods in making a comeback is regaining mobility on the golf course post-surgeries.
