To address this issue, the government is investing in renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and nuclear power to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower energy bills.

In a move to support struggling hospitality businesses, an energy-saving initiative is being implemented. More than 525 pubs, restaurants, and hotels will receive assistance through a new digital tool designed to create personalized plans to monitor and decrease energy consumption and emissions. This program has already shown success, with some businesses cutting their energy usage by up to 66%, saving an average of nearly £2,500 per establishment annually.

For instance, a small pub in Caterham saved over £1,500 per year by reducing overnight energy usage by 66%. Similarly, a pub in Bromley is saving £48 weekly, amounting to almost £2,500 in yearly profits no longer wasted on energy. Not only does this initiative reduce costs, but it also helps lower carbon emissions, demonstrating that achieving net zero emissions can benefit businesses.

By empowering business owners to manage their energy consumption, they can focus on enhancing customer service and growing their establishments. Thriving small businesses contribute to vibrant communities, supporting local employment and creating social hubs for gatherings and celebrations.

The government’s efforts to protect the hospitality sector also include a 15% reduction in business rates for pubs and a £10 million support fund for thousands of businesses. This commitment aligns with the clean energy mission, aiming to safeguard businesses, families, and communities nationwide.
