Fans anticipating a Spice Girls reunion may have to hold on a bit longer, as one member of the iconic group gears up to launch her first album in five years. Mel C announces her ninth solo album and plans for an upcoming tour.
The latest development may not sit well with Mel B, who is eager to reunite the group. She recently confessed to persistently urging the other members to regroup for another tour. In an exclusive interview, Mel C offers a glimpse into her upcoming music project.
“My new album is completed and set for release,” she discloses, highlighting her busy schedule. Sporty Spice mentions her ongoing exploration of diverse musical styles, drawing inspiration from her DJing background.
She elaborates: “In my recent albums, I have leaned towards electronic pop genres. For this upcoming release, I aimed to further embrace that style, incorporating dance music and my DJ experiences.
“I sought to infuse a sense of enjoyment and craft something I am passionate about. The album is finalized, and details will be revealed soon. I view this as a continuous learning and growth process – I have a deep love for singing, performing, and DJing, all of which I wanted to merge for this project. I am excited to share it with my audience.”
Mel assures that her new album will retain the essence of girl power synonymous with the band, featuring collaborations with strong female artists. Additionally, she expresses her determination to maintain a high pace, partly driven by her pursuit of a new fitness challenge.
Speaking at the launch event for Ben Forster’s latest album, “Musical’s Greatest Hits,” in London, Mel shares: “Physical exercise holds great importance for me. I aspire to stay active, dance, perform, and delight audiences on stage for as long as possible. My sister and I are considering participating in the [fitness competition] Hyrox together, but I need adequate training time.
“This summer has been exceptionally busy for me. It has been a continuous journey, and I hope for an even more eventful year ahead. I am enthusiastic about the prospects – however, I aim to be physically well-prepared.”
Ben Forster showcased his vocal prowess at a recent performance in Mayfair’s Langan’s, affirming his status as a prominent figure in the West End. Joined by celebrities like Mel C and Kimberley Walsh, Ben delivered captivating renditions from popular musicals such as Wicked and Phantom. The release date for Ben’s new album is scheduled for November 21.
