Labour leader Keir Starmer has responded to Nigel Farage’s criticism of the Prime Minister for provoking the “radical left” with attacks on Farage’s party’s immigration policy, which Farage labeled as “racist.”
Farage, known for his sensitivity, claimed that the PM’s criticisms of his proposal to deport legally residing individuals in the UK would incite the radical left and endanger his party’s activists.
In a lengthy outburst following the PM’s remarks at the Labour conference, Farage insisted that anyone suggesting the deportation of long-term residents in the country is against national progress.
In defiance of Farage’s objections, the PM asserted that he would not retreat in his battle against harmful political ideologies.
Speaking to the Mirror, he clarified, “My statements are not accurately represented. I am presenting a pivotal choice for our nation. We can either progress under a Labour government that champions patriotic national rejuvenation, uniting our diverse and tolerant country, or we can opt for divisive decay that, in my opinion, will fracture our nation. I will not shy away from making this case, as it is essential for the country that I hold dear.”
Meanwhile, Labour has redirected its focus towards Reform, with prominent ministers lining up to criticize the right-wing party.
In his address, the Prime Minister acknowledged the public’s legitimate concerns about illegal migration but condemned Farage and his allies for crossing a moral boundary by proposing the removal of rights from some legally residing migrants in the UK.
He emphasized, “While this party takes pride in our national symbols, if they are associated with graffiti telling a Chinese restaurant owner to ‘go home,’ that is not patriotism, it is racism.”
The PM continued, “If you suggest that individuals cannot be English or British due to their skin color, demand explanations from mixed-heritage families, or propose the deportation of long-standing residents who have contributed to our society, then we will oppose you vigorously because you stand against national progress.”
