David Schumacher, who is the nephew of the legendary Michael Schumacher, has recently gotten engaged to Vivien Keszthelyi. The couple, who met through a mutual acquaintance and have been in a relationship for several years, shared the happy news on social media last weekend.
David, a talented racer who competed in the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup for the HRT Ford Performance team, proposed to Vivien while they were on a trip to the Maldives.
In a romantic Instagram post, the 24-year-old wrote, “She said yes. The ocean witnessed our love, and the sunset sealed our promise. 05.11.2025.” Vivien also expressed her gratitude for the well-wishes and support they received from friends and followers.
Among the first to show support for the engagement announcement was David’s father, Ralf, a former Formula 1 race winner. The post garnered over 20,000 likes. Sadly, David’s older brother, Michael, suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident in 2013 and now requires constant medical care at home.
Michael, a seven-time world champion, spent 250 days in a medically induced coma before returning home. Dr. Jussi Posti, a neurosurgeon closely involved in his case, indicated that Michael’s condition has likely remained stable over the past decade.
In a Netflix documentary released in 2021, Michael’s wife, Corinna, shared insights into his life post-accident. She reflected on the unfortunate incident and the impact it had on their family, expressing the ongoing longing for Michael.
Mick Schumacher, Michael’s son, also spoke about the accident’s effects, highlighting the void created by the loss of shared experiences and conversations with his father. Mick expressed a deep desire for the conversations they could have had about their shared passion for motorsport.
The Schumacher family continues to navigate the challenges brought on by Michael’s accident, with each member coping in their own way.
