Sky viewers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change as Sky announces the merger of two of its services. Sky Cinema Animation, currently on channel 312, will combine with Sky Cinema Family on April 30. This move aims to streamline the service, offering a single location on channel 304 for family-friendly films.
Following the update, viewers can access popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in one place. While there will be one less channel, all content previously on Sky Cinema Animation will now be available through Sky Cinema Family.
Fans of Sky Cinema Animation need not worry entirely as the standalone channel will make a temporary return during school holidays to entertain kids. The channel will be accessible from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In other news, Sky has ventured into the home security market by introducing new smart devices. Customers can subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 a month plus a £15 upfront fee. This system includes features such as full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For additional functionalities, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront fee, which includes an indoor camera and enhanced app controls. Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing accessible premium smart technology that is user-friendly and affordable.
