A business owner in Dubai known as the “Porta-Potty” boss has been apprehended by law enforcement for his alleged involvement in a sex trafficking network that exploited vulnerable women. Charles Mwesigwa, who claims to have previously worked as a bus driver in London, is accused of managing a disturbing sex trafficking operation in one of Dubai’s most upscale neighborhoods.
While the specific charges against Mr. Mwesigwa in the UAE remain undisclosed, a Dubai law firm confirmed that the suspect is currently detained at the Central Prison Centre in Al Awir, Dubai. These illicit gatherings, reportedly organized by affluent individuals, entice young models and influencers with promises of significant cash rewards, luxurious gifts, and accommodations in high-end hotels.
The trending hashtag #Dubaiportapotty, with over 450 million views on TikTok, sheds light on how some influencers are financing their lifestyles by fulfilling extreme sexual demands. Mr. Mwesigwa was caught on tape telling an undercover journalist that he could arrange women for sex parties for a fee of £750, boasting that they were willing to fulfill clients’ every desire.
Several women who believed they were traveling to the UAE for legitimate job opportunities were shocked to find themselves coerced into carrying out degrading acts. Tragically, two women associated with Mr. Mwesigwa died under suspicious circumstances by falling from high-rise buildings. While their deaths were officially declared as suicides, their families are urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
One of the deceased women arrived in Dubai from Uganda with the expectation of working in a supermarket, only to discover a grim reality upon arrival. Describing the situation as akin to a marketplace with around 50 women, testimonies reveal a coercive environment where debts quickly escalated, leaving women vulnerable to exploitation.
Despite the serious allegations, Mr. Mwesigwa refutes the accusations, claiming to assist women in finding housing and suggesting that they willingly attend events due to his influential connections. Another woman described feeling trapped within his network, highlighting a disturbing pattern of exploitation.
