Bernie Ecclestone recently parted ways with a yacht named after his daughters, Petra and Tamara, following his wife Fabiana’s revelation that they only used it for eight days annually. Another smaller yacht owned by the Formula 1 mogul, located in Ibiza, is also now on the market, contrasting with “Petara,” which is situated in Croatia.
During an interview on his 95th birthday, Ecclestone disclosed, “We just sold it,” as Fabiana shared, “We only used it for eight days a year. We don’t require such a large yacht for that purpose.”
Earlier this year, Ecclestone also sold his collection of F1 cars to Red Bull co-owner Mark Mateschitz for a sum close to £550 million. This transaction followed a civil settlement with HMRC where he paid over £500 million due to failure in declaring overseas assets worth £400 million, 18 months prior.
Despite these sales, Ecclestone and his family maintain a substantial net worth of over £1.8 billion according to Forbes. Residing in Gstaad, in the Swiss Alps, with his third wife Fabiana, 49, and their five-year-old son, Ace, Ecclestone expressed his birthday preference, stating, “My daughters wanted a big party. I’d rather fly with Fabi and Ace to my ranch in Brazil.”
Speaking of family visits, Ecclestone mentioned his eldest daughter, Deborah, who recently turned 70 and visited him in Gstaad before his birthday. Fabiana highlighted their strong family bond, noting, “We’ve been married for 13 years now, together for 16,” and emphasized their collaborative approach in parenting Ace, adding, “It’s working very well.”
Reflecting on Ace’s upbringing, Ecclestone explained their rules regarding technology access, stating, “It’s not easy for us to explain to Ace that online, tablet, and YouTube are only available on Tuesdays, while his classmates have daily access. I think it’s a good idea for him to get his first cell phone at 12 or 14.” Fabiana praised Ace’s diverse interests, mentioning, “He was already skiing at the age of two. Many children his age don’t like certain foods – Ace enjoys everything. His favorite is sushi.”
In a separate development, Sky has reduced the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering members savings of £192 and access to over 1,400 live matches from the Premier League, EFL, and more. Sky will broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League games in the upcoming season, representing an increase of up to 100 matches.
