A British sailor, James Nunan, went missing over a month ago after departing from Gran Canaria, Spain, on a voyage around the world. Detectives suspect he may have encountered a mishap at sea following a night ashore. Nunan was last seen at a kebab shop, where a theft incident assisted investigators in retracing his final known movements.
His distressed family has traveled to Gran Canaria to aid in the search for the missing sailor. Nunan, who used an Irish passport, was reported missing after visiting a police station in Las Palmas. Prior to his disappearance, he had moored his yacht in Las Isletas and was seen at Paddy’s Anchor pub.
James, also known as Jemsie, was captured on Facebook Live near Las Palmas before he planned to sail to Lanzarote and then Brazil. Authorities found his boat approximately 100 miles from Las Palmas but are still actively searching for him, suspecting a possible accident at sea.
His half-sister, Nikita Goddard, expressed the family’s emotional strain in the search for Nunan. Police are considering the theory that he may have fallen from his yacht mast due to missing safety equipment. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities exploring all leads to uncover the truth behind Nunan’s disappearance.
