Chris McCausland, the winner of Strictly Come Dancing, is set to appear as a guest on the popular comedy quiz show QI when it premieres its new season, Series W, on BBC Two in October. The show is known for its humorous approach to presenting challenging questions, leading guests to provide incorrect answers in a light-hearted manner.
The upcoming season will see the return of host Sandi Toksvig, who has been at the helm of the show since 2016 following the departure of Sir Stephen Fry. Comedian Alan Davies will join her, along with a rotating cast of guest comedians in each episode, including the likes of Jimmy Carr, Aisling Bea, Rosie Jones, Nish Kumar, Jo Brand, and Julian Clary.
Chris McCausland is no stranger to QI, having previously appeared in an episode from Series S titled Smörgåsbord, alongside Jen Brister and Jimmy Carr. The accomplished comedian has also showcased his talent on various comedy panel shows such as Would I Lie To You?, Have I Got News For You, and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Piers Fletcher, the series producer of QI, expressed excitement for the upcoming Series W, stating that the team had a great time producing it and honing their blend of wisdom, wit, and whimsy over the show’s 23-year history. The new season will comprise 14 extended QI XL episodes lasting 45 minutes each, along with two 30-minute specials. The episodes will be available for streaming on iPlayer in October, with the exact release date yet to be revealed.
Since its launch in 2003, QI has entertained audiences for over two decades with its unique format, challenging celebrity contestants like Chris with misleading questions to test their knowledge and wit. Sandi Toksvig, who has been hosting the show for nine years, recently announced her new project, Sandi Toksvig’s Hidden Wonders, where she embarks on a quest to uncover undiscovered archaeological treasures.
Additionally, Dianne Buswell, Chris McCausland’s dance partner and fellow Strictly Come Dancing winner, will make an appearance on the show’s upcoming season premiering on September 20. Dianne, who is expecting a child with her partner Joe Sugg, met him at a dance competition in 2018.
