Three major high street banks, Lloyds Bank, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, all part of Lloyds Banking Group, have announced the closure of 71 branches next year due to the increasing popularity of online banking. The list comprises 40 Lloyds branches, 14 Halifax locations, and 17 Bank of Scotland sites. Customers affected by these closures have the option to utilize branches across any of the three banks for their everyday banking needs. Additionally, they can explore the availability of “banking hubs” in shared public spaces on the high street for banking services.
A spokesperson from Lloyds Banking Group highlighted the shift in customer banking behaviors, with over 21 million customers opting for apps to manage their finances. The group aims to offer enhanced digital convenience while maintaining personalized customer service. In addition to the mobile app, customers have the flexibility to conduct their banking at Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland branches, utilize Post Office services, or access banking hubs. Cash deposits can also be made at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.
