A tragic incident occurred in Hungary as a passenger bus carrying Polish tourists veered off the road and overturned in a ditch, resulting in the deaths of 12 individuals and injuries to several others. The accident took place on the M3 motorway near Mezokeresztes, approximately 140 kilometers east of Budapest, when the bus driver, suspected of falling asleep, lost control of the vehicle. Authorities have detained the driver for questioning.
Reports from Hungary’s National Directorate for Disaster Management revealed that among the 57 passengers and two drivers on board, many were trapped underneath the bus after it flipped over. It was disclosed by the Polish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maciej Wewiór that all passengers held Polish citizenship and were returning from a pilgrimage in Bosnia-Herzegovina, particularly from the southeastern Podkarpackie region.

He commended the swift response of rescue teams dispatched to the accident site. Polish President Karol Nawrocki also expressed profound sadness over the tragedy, offering prayers and sympathy to the victims’ families and friends.
