Samsung and Apple recently unveiled their latest smartphones, the Galaxy S25 FE and iPhone Air, but a new contender from Xiaomi, the Xiaomi 17 Pro, is set to outshine them all. The Xiaomi 17 Pro boasts a large front screen and a unique mini Dynamic Back Display on its rear case.
According to Xiaomi, this secondary panel provides users with additional ways to engage with their device, such as receiving notifications like messages and emails, or tracking the location of a delivery. The display can also serve as a clock, a mini music player, or a platform for displaying handy sticky notes. Xiaomi emphasizes that users can fully personalize the display with custom photos, turning them into smart AI wallpapers.
Additionally, the second screen offers various functionalities, including serving as a virtual pet, a flight tracker, and a diary. Moreover, when taking selfies, users can utilize the dual-lens cameras along with the second display acting as a mini viewfinder for capturing perfect shots.
Xiaomi stated, “Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max introduce a revolutionary dual-screen design that blends sophisticated aesthetics with intuitive, intelligent functionality. The Dynamic Back Display enhances lifestyle and efficiency under various scenarios: customizable watch faces, AI wallpapers, virtual pets, dynamic information notifications, sticky notes, and so much more.”
Apart from the dual display feature, the Xiaomi 17 Pro offers a range of other capabilities, including a large battery that supports rapid charging. The Xiaomi 17 Pro series supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, making it twice as fast as the iPhone’s charging speed.
Furthermore, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is one of the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, known for its enhanced performance and efficiency. Although the UK release date for the Xiaomi 17 Pro series is yet to be confirmed, the phones are currently available in China, with hopes of expanding to more countries soon.
