A large portion of applications and services typically require a monthly subscription fee for their usage, and now it appears that WhatsApp may also be moving in that direction. WABetaInfo has observed that the chat application owned by Meta is in the process of developing an enhancement known as WhatsApp Plus.
This new feature is anticipated to provide exclusive updates and functionalities, such as the ability to pin up to 20 chats (an increase from the current limit of 3) and enhanced customization options, including the ability to change the app’s theme, icon, and accent colors.
Additionally, users might have access to extra stickers, more ringtones, and enhanced chat reactions if they opt for the premium subscription plan called “WhatsApp Plus,” which is currently in development for both Android and iOS platforms.
While the initial upgrades are being rolled out, Meta is expected to introduce further enhancements gradually for subscribers willing to pay for the extra features.
While WhatsApp has not officially confirmed these reports, test versions of the Plus app have been identified by WABetaInfo, indicating ongoing development.
It is essential to note that the existing free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be required to switch to the paid subscription model.
The introduction of WhatsApp Plus aims to offer additional benefits to users who are willing to pay a monthly fee, without forcing any changes on those who choose to stick with the free version.
Stay tuned for more updates on WhatsApp Plus in the near future.
