Virgin Media emerges as the top choice for households seeking superior broadband speeds, reliability, and consistent performance, according to the latest evaluation by Opensignal. The UK-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) outperformed its competitors across all categories, including Download Speed, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Consistent Quality.
Andrey Popov, Principal Analyst, highlighted Virgin Media’s exceptional broadband experience, attributing it to the company’s upgraded cable-to-fibre network. Virgin’s impressive performance in Download Speed (187.8Mbps) and Reliability Experience (747 points) sets it apart from providers relying primarily on the Openreach wholesale platform.
In the overall rankings, Vodafone secured the second position, showcasing strong performance in various categories. Vodafone’s dual-network strategy, operating on both Openreach and CityFibre networks, gives it a competitive edge over other providers utilizing a single platform.
Among other notable ISPs, BT ranked third in Consistent Quality and Download Speed categories, while Sky excelled in Video Experience, securing the second spot in this segment.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Three ranked lowest in the evaluation, scoring poorly in Consistent Quality, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Reliability Experience. TalkTalk also faced challenges, particularly in download speeds, averaging 55.1Mbps compared to Virgin’s impressive score of over 180Mbps.
The Opensignal survey results highlight the performance of various ISPs, with Virgin Media leading in key categories such as Consistent Quality, Download Speed, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Reliability Experience.
