Oleksandr Usyk is taking his time to consider his future despite pressure to defend his world titles against Moses Itauma.

Usyk recently reclaimed the undisputed heavyweight world champion title by defeating Daniel Dubois at Wembley. Although he was mandated to face Joseph Parker next, Usyk has requested a delay in making a decision due to an injury.

After Itauma’s quick victory over Dillian Whyte, Saudi Arabian boxing chief Turki Alalshikh suggested a fight between Usyk and the young British boxer. However, Sergey Lapin, a member of Usyk’s team, has advised patience.

Lapin emphasized Usyk’s respect for opponents and rules in boxing, highlighting the champion’s double achievement as an undisputed heavyweight champion. He stressed the importance of allowing Usyk to recover physically and mentally from the demanding training and injuries, and to have the freedom to choose his path.

Itauma, on the other hand, refrained from directly challenging Usyk, expressing his willingness to face deserving opponents like Agit Kabayel or Joseph Parker in the future.

Despite Tyson Fury’s belief that Itauma is prepared to take on Usyk and emerge victorious, the young boxer remains humble and focused on his training, aiming to return to the ring after a period of rest.
