Two members of the USA team, Bryson DeChambeau and Sam Burns, have discussed the likelihood of Trump attending the tournament on the opening day this Friday at Bethpage Black. Thursday evening will witness both captains revealing their foursomes pairings, commencing play on Friday morning (midday UK time). DeChambeau, an experienced player on the LIV Golf tour since 2023, explained how the presence of the US president will impact him and his teammates significantly.

In a statement to reporters on Thursday, DeChambeau expressed his hope for Trump’s attendance to boost their morale and garner support from fans, creating an electrifying atmosphere. Burns, another American team member, also expressed excitement about competing in the Ryder Cup with President Trump present, emphasizing the honor of representing the United States alongside the President.

Team Europe enters the Ryder Cup with a strong determination to defend the trophy they secured in Rome in 2023 with a 16.5-11.5 victory over Team USA. Their last encounter on American soil in 2021 resulted in a significant 19-9 defeat for Team Europe at Whistling Straits. The last time Europe triumphed in the Ryder Cup on US soil was during the legendary Miracle at Medinah in 2012.
