Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to travel to Canada next week, as per information shared with Radio-Canada. This visit, initially reported by the Globe and Mail, has been verified by two separate sources. It is anticipated that Zelenskyy’s trip to Canada may involve two destinations. Zelenskyy previously visited Canada in December, where he held discussions with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax before proceeding to the U.S. for talks with President Donald Trump regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict resolution. The Prime Minister’s Office has chosen not to provide any comments on the upcoming visit.

The news of this visit coincides with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s statement that several nations, including the U.S. and China, are prepared to assist in facilitating peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Putin emphasized that the ultimate resolution of the conflict lies with the involved parties – Russia and Ukraine. Expressing gratitude to those contributing to the peace process, Putin expressed optimism about the chances of a peaceful settlement.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, speaking in Kyiv, expressed optimism about a renewed momentum in peace efforts with increased political and diplomatic engagements in various global capitals. He hinted at a positive shift in the peace dynamics without providing further details, urging reporters to stay updated with the latest news. Following 4½ years of Europe’s most fatal conflict since World War II, both sides rarely present positive assessments of peace prospects. The last face-to-face meeting between the two sides occurred during U.S.-brokered talks in February.
