“UK Woman Banned from City After Fraud Scheme”

Published on

A judge has barred a woman, Yasmin Green, from ever returning to a city in the UK after she confessed to defrauding her partner of thousands of pounds using deceitful tactics. Green, 34, from Grimsby, pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining a £5,000 loan for a non-existent property and fabricating a false land registry document for the imaginary home. She also acknowledged creating a fake identity to dupe her partner into participating in a property purchase, securing financing for a car in the victim’s name without consent.

In the courtroom at Grimsby Crown Court, it was revealed that Green and her partner had been in a relationship for a year, initially meeting on a Tinder date in 2020. Green misled her partner into believing she was someone else named Danielle, leading to a series of deceptive acts aimed at financial gain. The victim, unaware of Green’s true identity, was manipulated into taking out loans for a fictional flat and was presented with counterfeit documents to support the scam.

Following a thorough investigation, it was discovered that Green had also exploited the victim’s personal information to secure unauthorized financial commitments, including setting up car finance and obtaining a credit card in the victim’s name without consent. The victim, traumatized by the betrayal and financial consequences, had to take a year off work to address the aftermath of the fraud, resulting in a significant impact on her life and well-being.

During the sentencing, Recorder Nicholas Worsley KC admonished Green for her deceitful behavior, emphasizing the breach of trust and emotional harm caused to the victim. Despite expressions of remorse from Green and pleas for leniency, the judge condemned her actions as despicable and manipulative, ultimately imposing a suspended two-year prison sentence along with community service and financial restitution requirements.

In addition to the legal repercussions, Green received a lifelong restraining order prohibiting contact with her former partner and was instructed to refrain from entering the city of Hull indefinitely. The judge mandated monthly compensation payments and a surcharge, highlighting the severity of Green’s actions and the lasting impact on the victim’s life.
