“Top and Bottom Broadband Providers Revealed by Ofcom”

Published on

After analyzing the latest data from UK regulator Ofcom, it is evident that some of the major broadband providers in the UK are outperforming others in terms of customer satisfaction. Ofcom’s recent report highlights the top and bottom performers in the industry, with TalkTalk, Vodafone, and EE ranking the lowest in customer complaints.

Ofcom’s update states that “EE, TalkTalk, and Vodafone received the highest number of broadband complaints,” with TalkTalk and Vodafone experiencing an increase in complaints compared to the previous quarter.

On a positive note, Plusnet emerged as the top performer with the lowest number of complaints among broadband providers, according to Ofcom. This result is surprising considering that Plusnet and EE are both under the ownership of BT, showcasing a significant difference in their complaints handling.

Furthermore, Sky secured the second spot for the least number of issues reported, followed by Virgin Media, which has shown significant improvement from being one of the worst performers to now ranking as the third best in terms of customer grievances.

The statistics reveal that Plusnet had only 4 complaints per 100,000 customers, while Sky had 6 complaints per 100,000, and Virgin Media registered 7 complaints per 100,000 customers. In comparison, BT had 11 complaints per 100,000, Vodafone and EE each had 10 complaints per 100,000, and TalkTalk also had 10 complaints per 100,000 customers.

Apart from broadband, Ofcom also monitors complaints in other services such as landlines and pay-TV. Utility Warehouse led the way in landline services with just 1 complaint per 100,000 customers, with Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone also performing well in this category. However, TalkTalk ranked at the bottom once again with 8 complaints per 100,000 customers.

Despite the consistent complaint levels across various services, Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at uswitch.com, expressed concern over the lack of improvement in the industry. Doku emphasized the importance of providers justifying rising costs and encouraged consumers to explore better value options amidst upcoming price changes.

In conclusion, while overall complaint volumes have remained stable, the industry’s stagnant performance raises concerns among consumers as they seek reliable and cost-effective services.
