A renowned food critic recently conducted a taste test between a high-end £16 fried chicken dish and the well-known fast-food chain KFC. Carmie Sellitto, known for his viral food reviews on TikTok with 1.2 million followers, set out to determine if the expensive offering from Harrods could justify its premium price tag.

In his latest video, the 26-year-old Londoner compared the upscale meal to KFC’s popular popcorn chicken, priced at just £5 with a side of gravy. Surprisingly, Sellitto had never tried KFC before this comparison. After sampling the budget-friendly option first, he praised its flavor, crunch, and seasoning, stating it was definitely worth the £5 price tag.

The real challenge came when he tasted the Harrods alternative, which cost over three times the price. Sellitto remarked on the significant size difference between the two servings. Upon trying the premium chicken, he was visibly impressed, calling it some of the best chicken he had ever tasted, highlighting the perfect seasoning. When he dipped the Harrods chicken in KFC gravy, he was left speechless, expressing his awe.

Sellitto rated the KFC version 8.5/10 and the Harrods dish 9.5/10, ultimately declaring Harrods as the winner. This taste test follows Sellitto’s previous reviews, including the UK’s most expensive coffee at £265, which he found to taste no different from a regular £3 coffee, questioning the exorbitant price tag.
