Strictly Come Dancing participant Tom Skinner has shared how a meeting with JD Vance resulted in alarming threats directed at him. Tom, known for his controversial online opinions, faced criticism after dining with the former Apprentice star and US vice president during Vance’s recent visit to the UK.
Despite posting a photo of their barbecue get-together in the Cotswolds, Tom received a barrage of negative feedback, including death threats, from individuals considering him a political influencer. Clarifying that he is not involved in politics, Tom expressed frustration over the ongoing attacks from online users.
In an interview with The Sun, Tom expressed feeling overwhelmed by the polarized reactions he received, stating, “The left seems to be targeting me daily on social media.” He emphasized that he did not anticipate the intense backlash following the casual gathering, emphasizing his non-political stance.
Acknowledging his initial apprehension about the meeting, not due to potential backlash but rather about attire choices, Tom described Vance as “just a regular guy.” They bonded over discussions about cheese, football, and cultural differences, despite the controversy surrounding their interaction.
Reflecting on the experience, Tom highlighted the significance of dining with a prominent figure like Vance, regardless of their differing views. He maintained that the encounter was a memorable opportunity, unaffected by the vice president’s political beliefs, labeling it as a remarkable moment in his life.
