Which? has unveiled its top current account providers and is advising millions of customers to consider switching. The consumer rights organization assessed various aspects such as fees, overdrafts, charges, and benefits in its recent survey, which included feedback from over 6,600 account holders.

Six providers were recognized as Which? Recommended Providers (WRP), including Chase, Danske Bank, First Direct, Monzo, Nationwide, and Starling. Starling emerged as the leader with an 86% customer satisfaction score, earning its seventh WRP badge. Monzo followed closely with an 85% score, while First Direct maintained an 84% score, holding the WRP title for over a decade.

Nationwide tied with First Direct at 84%, receiving accolades for its in-branch and online services. Chase, a digital bank under JPMorgan, achieved an 82% score, excelling in mobile app functionality. Danske Bank garnered an 80% satisfaction rating, primarily receiving four-star ratings for customer service and online banking.

Despite high customer scores, Allied Irish Bank and Revolut missed WRP status due to specific operational reasons. The survey also highlighted that nearly 37% of respondents have remained loyal to a single provider for over 20 years.

In contrast, TSB received the lowest customer score of 67%, while Virgin Money, Santander, and Halifax were closely ranked at 71%. Which? Money’s Deputy Editor, Sam Richardson, emphasized the importance of exploring bank options to maximize benefits and convenience, especially as many banks offer incentives for switching.

Representatives from TSB and Virgin Money expressed their commitment to enhancing services and customer experiences. The Mirror reached out to Santander and Halifax for their comments on the rankings.
