“Sky Shifts Away from Sky Q Set-Top Box to Embrace Streaming”

Published on

Sky has announced a significant change in TV viewing habits that could mark the decline of the traditional satellite dish. The company has stopped selling its Sky Q set-top box online and is now promoting Sky Stream and Sky Glass TVs instead.

The decision to discontinue Sky Q online sales is part of the company’s strategy to shift towards internet-based streaming services. Customers looking to purchase Sky Q will be redirected to consider the more affordable Stream box, starting at £15 per month.

Sky Stream and Sky Glass provide live and on-demand content over the internet, eliminating the need for a satellite signal. These options offer quick setup, do not require professional installation, and receive frequent updates with new features. The basic Sky Stream package is also cheaper than Sky Q.

While Sky Q remains popular among existing users, the company is focusing more on streaming options due to changing consumer preferences. Existing Sky Q customers can still buy the device by contacting Sky directly or visiting retail stores.

The transition to streaming services is evident, but Sky Q will continue to be available through alternative purchasing methods. This move reflects the growing trend towards a streaming-centric future.
